Om Swami stands out as a self-taught contemporary Indian artist, having never undergone formal painting education. Nevertheless, he has gained widespread recognition for his vibrant and joyful depictions of divinities such as Ganesha, Shiva, Buddha, and Krishna with Radha. Additionally, his art often portrays couples immersed in moments of togetherness and bliss. Throughout various series, his surreal compositions consistently include elements like flutes, flowers, butterflies, and a radiant moon.
Reflecting on his childhood, Om Swami recalls growing up in an area filled with workshops crafting clay idols of Ganesha. His fascination with these workshops led him to spend hours watching potters, inspiring him to try creating the idols himself. This early connection with Ganpatis remains a driving force in his art, particularly focusing on Lord Ganesha.
As both an artist and an individual, Om Swami is characterized by profound and unwavering faith, not only in the divine but also in humanity. A unique ritual precedes each painting, where he seeks his 'Guru's blessings' before commencing the creative process, signing his name on the back of the canvas in the top left-hand corner.
